Honestly, you really cannot go wrong with an eGo e-cigarette, especially when it is teamed up with a solid clearomizer. I’ve reviewed a similar product before, but not this particular kit which comes from Panda ecigs, USA.

As most eGo starter kits are very similar, choosing the right one usually boils down to two things. Price and what you get by way of extras!

The 900mAh battery provides up to 9 hours usage (2 are included with the kit)

The Panda ecigs Joy eGo Kit features the intermediate 900mAh Li-ion battery which in my opinion is the best compromise between length (its not too long) and usability (battery life) compared to say a regular 650mah or the much longer 1300mAh version. 2 batteries are included with this kit. I ordered the Rubber Black version, however Panda ecigs stocks a multitude of colours (Copper, Gold, Pink, Red, Royal Blue, Rubber White and Stainless Steel. Note: some are priced at a small premium).

I’m a huge fan of the CE4 and 2 standard looking clearomizers are included in the kit (Panda ecigs refer to these as Joymizers). A 10ml bottle of e-liquid is also neatly packed inside the box and during the ordering phase you have the option to choose the nicotine strength (4 strengths) and flavour (17 available at time of review).

A two prong USB wall adaptor and separate USB cable provide charging options and a comprehensive user manual complements the kit.

A soft protective pouch is also included which is a very nice touch, but a little on the short side. The pouch is suitable for a single eGo battery, clearomizer and 10ml bottle of e-liquid or could equally be used for anything you like! I found that this worked best when the unit was broken down, as the tip of the mouthpiece protrudes out of the top corner even when slanted to one side when screwed together.

The box!

The Panda ecigs Joy eGo Kit comes in a sturdy matte black box with the suppliers cute Panda logo emblazoned across the front. If you are new to vaping and are going through that phase where you are amassing a large collection of bits and pieces, I’d hang on to the box for storage purposes.

While I charged the batteries I took a closer look at the 510 “Joymizer”. These differ slightly from the CE4’s I regularly use in as much as the nylon wicks are thinner and multi stranded (four stands protrude out of the atomizer head on each side). My experience with the single thicker variant has been good so this would be an interesting wicking test.

They are similarly constructed albeit for a knurled section at the tank base. However, the measuring guide printed on the Joymizer tank is misaligned and out by about 0.3ml, thus filling is required above the 1.6ml mark (coil level) to reach the maximum 1.6ml tank capacity. The mouthpiece screw thread is slightly longer than usual which makes replacing the mouthpiece tip much easier – no more fiddling to get the thread started as is sometimes the case with CE4’s.

As I spend an inordinate amount of time at the PC I used the supplied USB cable to charge the battery which takes 2-3 hours to fully charge from flat. During charging the charger cycles red to green. The eGo battery LED remains on until charging is complete.

In operation the Joy eGo operates like any other eGo and has a 10 second cut-off. Five rapid button presses turns the unit on and five turn it off. Once on, simply press and hold the button to activate the unit and begin vaping. The button is illuminated by a blue LED, which is bright, but hidden for the most part (by your thumb) during operation so its acceptable to use in dim conditions without drawing too much attention.

I filled a Joymizer and took a puff. As expected – instant result – eGo’s just work!

In my opinion the multi stranded Joymizer’s took a little more breaking in time than their single wick counterparts, but give similar performance after a day or so and should last a month (maybe longer) before vapour production diminishes. The 900mAh lithium battery life is touted at 9 hours and I would expect light users to get close to this. For me 7-8 hours is common, but it will depend on how much you use the device, plus the Ohms rating of atomizer used.
