Since I road tested the Apollo Superior eGo Kit late last year I have become hooked on CE4 clearomizer’s, so much so that I haven’t used a regular atomizer since then. Anyway, I thought I better get my hands on an adaptor so that I can use them with my stainless steel Vtube. So I headed off to Apollo and ordered one.
The CE4 has a recessed 510 connector and a metal skirt, which means their use is limited to standard eGo style devices, but an eGo adaptor opens up a whole new world of opportunities enabling this popular clearomizer to be used on just about anything, including of course the Vtube variable voltage mod.
The eGo 510 adaptor is made of brass and chrome plated. It has nice clean threads and four shallow cut air vents atop the female end. As its an eGo adaptor the mid rift is also threaded to enable the use of a cone or plinth. The CE4 doesn’t have an eGo style thread, it purely screws into the regular 510 section, but its metal skirting covers the adaptor’s external threading.
The adaptor is not a sealed design, in as much as there is a metal tube that goes through the centre for airflow and insulated by a silicone grommet. This may not appeal to all users as the stainless steel vTube, in particular, already has an airy draw. I see a quick solution however. Run a piece of solder wire through the hole and solder it up. That way, air will only enter through the slots at the base of the CE4, thus tightening the draw considerably. A regular Vtube (i.e. the black version) has a normal draw so this “mod” isn’t necessary if you use that type.
I screwed the adaptor and CE4 on to my Vtube and hit the fire button – the clearomizer fizzed into life. The adaptor doesn’t increase resistance and can be used with all current atomizers (1.5Ohms and upwards).
Not much more to be add really. The only bit of advice I can give, is not to screw the CE4 on too tightly as it is a real pain to remove the adaptor – the only gripping point is the male threaded end – using a rubber glove helps get it out! Other than that, the adaptor works perfectly and now I can use the CE4’s with all my kit.
